Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen is the latest Super Eagles player to suffer an injury, ahead of next month’s must-win 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda’s Wasps and Zimbabwe’s Warriors.
The Napoli loanee was substituted in the closing minutes of Galatasaray’s goalless draw with Fenerbahce on Monday evening, and it has now been confirmed that it was an injury-enforced substitution.
With a minute left on the clock, Lion boss Okan Buruk made his fourth substitution, bringing on central defender Kaan Ayhan as a replacement for Osimhen.
Concerns arose about the Nigeria international’s condition, when he revealed his foot on the bench after being substituted.

Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone after the clash at Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi RAMS Park, Galatasaray’s club doctor Yener İnce provided a brief update on Osimhen, hinting that the striker will be assessed on Tuesday.
In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi.com, Yener İnce said: “We will see, it will be clear tomorrow.”
Nigeria manager Eric Chelle is facing an injury crisis few weeks before announcing his roster with West Brom center back Semi Ajayi, Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Club Brugge’s Raphael Onyedika being looked at by their clubs’ medical teams after suffering injuries.
The extent of Osiimhen’s injury will be known before Galatasaray’s next game, against Konyaspor in the group stage of the Turkish Cup.
