The Miss Universe Organization has withdrawn the Miss Universe 2024 third runner-up title from Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri of Thailand due to a breach of contract.
In a statement released on its official website on April 22, the organization said that they recently discovered that TPN Global, the organizer behind Miss Universe Thailand, did not abide by the protocols set by the national directors.
“We have discovered that TPN Global did not comply with the protocols set by the National Directors (ND) by sending a Miss Universe Queen to participate in another pageant before completing her reign.
“We deeply regret any incidents where these actions have violated our internal protocols and expectations,” the statement read.
Emphasizing the role of a Miss Universe winner, the organization added that the title is “not only an honour but also a responsibility that requires dedication and respect for the commitments agreed upon.”

With this, Miss Universe decided to withdraw the “third runner-up title” from Opal.
While the organization did not mention Opal’s name in its statement, she was named the third runner-up at the Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico five months ago, in November.
Opal was crowned Miss World Thailand 2025 on Tuesday.
“For this reason, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw the third runner-up title from the person who had been honoured with it, due to the breach of her contractual obligations by participating in an external pageant,” Miss Universe said.
“This decision underscores our expectation that all winners fulfill their duties throughout their entire reign. The actions of the ND compromise the decorum and professionalism of the Queen’s full 12-month service.”
The Miss Universe Organization also said that starting May 1, 2025, the pageant will now impose strict regulations for all national directors regarding titleholders joining other pageants during their reign.
“Our shared goal is to empower the Miss Universe family to maintain mutual respect, faith, and trust among all its members.
“Our primary mission is to inspire and empower through the Miss Universe brand, providing opportunities for the personal and professional growth of all involved,” it said.
It also expressed its appreciation to its partners and contestants for their understanding and commitment to the principles of the organization.
Opal is set to compete against Philippine Krishnah Gravidez at the Miss World 2025 pageant, which will be held on May 31 in India.
