The Director New Media of the Bayelsa State Government, Doctor Kola Oredipe has donated sporting kits to the Bayelsa Athletics Association.
At the presentation ceremony held at the tartan tracks of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, he said the gesture was borne out of the need to encourage young athletes in the state to excel in track and fields.
Doctor Oredipe, who is the Vice Chairman of the Bayelsa State Athletics Association, expressed hope that the kits would spur the athletes’ work rate to become world champions.
He noted that the Governor Douye Diri’s Prosperity Administration has invested in sports development as a vehicle to harnessing the talents of teeming youths of the State.

The Director New Media, who thanked the Coaches and officials of the State Athletics Association for grooming the Athletes, charged Team Bayelsa to aspire to outperform their third place finish in the medals table at the last national sports festival in Benin City in the 2022 edition scheduled for Asaba, Delta State.
Secretary of the Bayelsa State Athletics Association, Tariye Jackson Bidie, thanked Doctor Oredipe for donating the sporting equipment, giving an assurance that the athletes would make best use of the kits to improve their performances.
Athletics Coach Maurice Terimo recalled that Dr Oredipe made a similar donation to Tima Godbless, the teenage track sensation who went ahead to break the national junior women’s one hundred meters record at the World Junior Athletics Championship in Cali, Colombia recently.
Kits presented to the Bayelsa Athletics Association were Spike shoes, training vests and running shots.
