Oppo has officially launched its latest foldable smartphone, the Find N5, positioning itself as a formidable rival to Samsung and Huawei in the premium foldable market. The cutting-edge device, unveiled on Thursday, boasts a sleek design, AI-powered features, and enhanced multitasking capabilities, setting a new benchmark for foldable smartphones.

With a starting price of 2,499 Singapore dollars (approximately $1,867.70 or 3.2 million Naira), the Find N5 features a compact 6.62-inch display when closed and unfolds into an expansive 8.12-inch tablet screen. Its ultra-slim profile makes it one of the thinnest foldables on the market, measuring just 8.93mm when closed and a mere 4.21mm when fully opened—outclassing Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 6.

Under the hood, the Find N5 is powered by a high-capacity 5,600mAh silicon-carbon battery, engineered for extended performance while maintaining its razor-thin build. Oppo’s aggressive push into the foldable space signals its ambition to challenge dominant players like Samsung and Huawei, both of whom have been pushing innovation to revive a stagnating smartphone market.

AI takes center stage in the Find N5, with its triple-camera system featuring a telephoto lens capable of 30x zoom. The device also introduces AI Telescope Zoom, an advanced image enhancement tool designed to deliver stunning clarity at extreme magnifications. Additionally, Oppo integrates a personal AI assistant capable of summarizing phone calls, interpreting documents, and translating video calls in real time.

Addressing privacy concerns, Oppo states that while some data is processed on the device, other information is securely stored in the cloud. The company has partnered with Google to enhance its AI and cloud computing technology in global markets, ensuring seamless and secure data management.

Beyond its hardware, the Find N5 brings a game-changing feature for Mac users. With the newly introduced O+ Connect app, users can wirelessly link their phone to a Mac desktop, allowing instant file transfers, remote control, and screen mirroring—all synchronized over Wi-Fi or mobile internet. This innovation provides Mac users with a level of cross-device integration typically associated with Apple’s own ecosystem.

Industry experts are already weighing in on Oppo’s bold move. Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight, describes the Find N5 as a testament to the “art of the possible” in flexible display technology. While Huawei’s triple-screen Mate XT made headlines, Wood believes that the book-style foldable design championed by Samsung, Honor, Google, and now Oppo remains the most commercially viable format.

Samsung, not one to be left behind, has hinted at a revolutionary trifold smartphone, which was teased during its January Unpacked event. However, the tech giant has yet to confirm whether the concept will make it to mass production.

With Oppo’s Find N5 entering the fray, the competition in the foldable smartphone market is heating up like never before. As innovation drives the next phase of mobile technology, consumers are poised to witness a new era of cutting-edge, AI-powered foldable devices.
