The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered an immediate investigation into bribery allegations by popular Nigerian social media personality Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky. The allegations, which surfaced in a viral video featuring Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, claim that EFCC officers extorted N15 million from Bobrisky to drop money laundering charges against him.
Bobrisky, who has a prior conviction, alleged in the video that unnamed officers of the EFCC demanded and received the sum of N15 million in exchange for halting the charges.
In response, the EFCC’s chairman swiftly initiated an inquiry, constituting a team of investigators to thoroughly probe the claims. Both Bobrisky and Otse have been invited by the EFCC to its Lagos office to provide further information and assist with the investigation.
