The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away at the age of 90, marking the end of a chapter in the history of Ibadan.
His transition to the ancestral realm occurred in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, just two days after he celebrated his milestone 90th birthday on July 5.
Oba Olakulehin took the throne as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland on July 12, 2024, following a ceremonial investiture where he received the staff of office from Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde.

His rise to kingship came after serving as Balogun Olubadan, a prominent chieftaincy role, following the death of his predecessor, Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who passed away at the age of 81 on March 14, 2024.
During his brief tenure as Olubadan, Oba Olakulehin was known for his commitment to promoting peace and unity within the community, as well as for upholding the rich cultural traditions of Ibadanland.
