Rapper Olamide, also known as Baddo, has tagged his fellow Afrobeats stars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as “troublesome friends.”
Despite their differences and disagreements at times, he emphasized that their friendship is strong.
In an episode of the Afrobeats Podcast with Adesope Olajide, which was released on YouTube on Tuesday, Olamide opened up about his relationships within the music industry.
He mentioned that while they sometimes don’t see eye to eye, they remain connected as friends.
Speaking in Yoruba, he said, “Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy are all my friends; they are just too troublesome. They are great guys, but we don’t always agree on everything, which is perfectly fine.”
Olamide also talked about his recent collaboration with Wizkid on a song called “Kia.”
He explained that their partnership blossomed unexpectedly while they were filming the music video.
Initially, the plan was just to work on “Kia,” but during the shoot, he played Wizkid some unreleased songs from his album.
He shared, “We didn’t plan for it to happen like this. While we were on set, I played some of my songs for Wizkid, and he immediately connected with one called ‘Billionaire’s Club,’ which I had just recorded a day before.”
Wizkid liked the track so much that he wanted to be a part of it, saying, “You should have shown me this one; if I had heard it earlier, we could have shot this instead.”
Olamide was pleasantly surprised that Wizkid liked that song, especially since it was so new.

In addition to discussing friendships, Olamide reflected on his impressive music career, which spans over ten years and includes several successful projects, global tours, and collaborations with major artists, including American hip-hop legend Dr. Dre.
He also highlighted his role as a music executive, noting that he has helped launch the careers of many artists in the Afrobeats scene, like Fireboy DML, Lil Kesh, and Adekunle Gold.
When asked about his success, Olamide credited his strong faith, saying, “Whatever you want to achieve in life, don’t underestimate the power of God. Nothing extraordinary can happen without His support.” He encouraged people to recognize how far they can go with faith and blessings.
Olamide also shared his journey, explaining that his desire to help others in the industry stems from his own struggles to find support when he was starting out.
Reflecting on his beginnings in the music world, he said, “I grew up wishing for opportunities that didn’t come my way. So when I finally made it big, I promised myself I would create opportunities for others.”
