- says power must shift to South
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has accused the Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa of betraying the South for supporting the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and accepting to be his vice.
Omo-Agege who spoke at Effurun, Uvwie local government area, Delta State, during an enlarged meeting of Delta Central All Progressive Congress, APC leaders, and stakeholders, Sunday, said it is only fair that power returns to the South after the North has served eight years.
According to him, the Delta State Governor has been labeled as a traitor for that singular reason.
Omo-Agege who is the governorship candidate of APC in the state stressed the need for the party to remain united, emphasizing that he was motivated by a desire to arrest receding hope among Deltans and build a state where the people’s future is brighter than their past.
He maintained that there is a need to be united to confront the monster called PDP, adding that they are the same people repeating the same thing and expecting a different outcome.
On power shift to the South, he said fairness demands that power returns to the South in 2023 since President Muhammadu Buhari, a Northerner, is about to complete eight years in office.
