Renowned comedian Okey Bakassi led a vibrant cast of entertainers at the Cultural Expo Night of the 2nd Niger Delta Games, turning the spotlight from medals to music, fashion and laughter in Edo State.
The colourful event, held on Wednesday, February 25, at the Cathelea Convention Centre, drew athletes, coaches, umpires, officials and sports stakeholders dressed in rich traditional attire that reflected the diverse heritage of the Niger Delta. The evening marked a cultural pause after six days of intense sporting contests among young athletes representing their states.
Bakassi, whose real name is Okechukwu McAnthony, spearheaded a lineup of comedians that kept the hall animated. The night also featured performances by Niger Delta music star Harrysong and fast-rising act Daniel Edoreh, popularly known as Danielo, who thrilled the largely youthful audience with energetic sets.
Speaking on the vision behind the entertainment showcase, Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, Lead Consultant at Dunamis-Icon Limited, organisers of the games, said the Cultural Expo was designed to offer more than competition.
He explained that while sports remain the core objective of the Niger Delta Games, organisers are deliberate about exposing participants to discipline, creativity and structured leisure through choreographed ceremonies and curated entertainment.
The Cultural Expo is coordinated by the Entertainment Committee chaired by impresario Edi Lawani. He revealed that the lineup also included comedians Seyi Law, Jikume, MC Porcupyne and G-Flex, alongside DJs and performers such as DJ Wikki, MC Casino, Ikpa Udo, DJ Masked Queen and DJ Sunny Dread.

According to Lawani, the programme was carefully structured to spotlight homegrown talents from across the Niger Delta states, blending established acts with emerging voices in comedy and music. The night also featured dance displays and a fashion parade, while athletes were invited to showcase their own talents in a variety segment that celebrated creativity beyond the track and field.
The 2nd Niger Delta Games, which began on February 20, is sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission and powered by Dunamis-Icon Limited. The multi-sport event continues to position Edo as a hub for youth development, sports tourism and cultural exchange in the Niger Delta region.
