Former Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, Ughelli South Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Chief John Oguma and Prince Emmanuel Omote, have urged the people of Ughelli South to vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for president and vice respectively ahead of the 2023 general election.

They also drumed support for Delta PDP governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates of the party in the general elections.

Uduaghan and others who spoke at the campaign rally in Ughelli South, when the PDP governorship campaign train, led by the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, stormed Ughelli South, Thursday, observed that Ughelli South was the economic base of the state and the country.

According to Uduaghan, Ughelli South has got nothing to show, despite its contribution to the GDP of the nation, pointing out that, having a vice president from the state will give not just the state a voice but also the local government.

He said, “Ughelli South is the economic centre of the state. The money that is being generated from the Otorogun Gas Plant alone is huge. I know this because I have governed the state before. The people handling contracts there are not people from this state, the people that work there are not from here.

“Why this is happening is because we don’t have people in Abuja, we don’t have a voice in Abuja. This is why we must support Okowa to Abuja. We must also support Amori for Senate. We should vote Atiku/Okowa for the Presidential election.”

Also speaking, Chief John Oguma, leader of the PDP in Ughelli South noted that the party has done a lot for the people of the local government in terms of delivering the dividends of democracy to its people.

Oguma said, there was no presence of any opposition in the area due to the massive development by the PDP administration in terms of project delivery and human capital development.

He urged the people to vote for the party’s candidates standing for all elective offices in the 2023 general elections, assuring that things can only get better for them.

In his remarks, a notable stalwart of the party in the local government, Prince Emmanuel Omote solicited support for the Atiku/Okowa presidential ticket and Sheriff Oborevwori as governor of the state.

Omote who is the Executive Director of Elohim foundation, PDP has done a lot for Ughelli south that has placed it as the only option available to the people of the local government area.
