Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to ensure balanced development across the state, with special focus on riverine communities previously left behind.
‎
‎Speaking on Wednesday at the inauguration of the reconstructed 12.1-kilometre Odimodi–Okuntu–Ogulagha Road in Burutu Local Government Area, Oborevwori said the project reflects his government’s determination to deliver durable, people-oriented infrastructure statewide.
‎
‎He recalled that the road, first built by SPDC decades ago, had deteriorated before his administration intervened. “When I saw its condition, I made a firm decision that it must be rehabilitated. Today, we are here to commission it to the glory of God and for the prosperity of our people,” the governor said.
‎
‎Oborevwori commended the contractors for meeting high engineering standards suited to the area’s coastal terrain and reaffirmed his commitment to accountability and prompt payment for completed projects. “In Delta State, no contractor is being owed. We make prompt payments because we want projects completed on schedule,” he stated.

‎He also highlighted ongoing efforts to complete inherited projects and new infrastructure, including the Warri–Sapele–Benin Road section and upcoming flyovers in Ughelli and Agbor.
‎
‎Representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Hon. Julius Pondi lauded the governor’s inclusive governance and promised continued support, while Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, noted that the road’s drainage and pavement design would withstand the region’s challenging conditions.
‎
‎Chairman of Burutu Local Government, Hon. Julius Takeme, and community leaders also praised the governor’s commitment, describing the project as a transformative milestone for the riverine corridor.
‎
‎The event drew government officials, lawmakers, and jubilant residents who hailed the road as a long-awaited link to economic progress and renewed hope for the riverine people.
