Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and his Taraba State counterpart, Agbu Kefas are expected to grace the 2024 Press Week Lecture and Award Ceremony of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
This is contained in a statement signed by Elder Barry Agbanigbi, Chairman of the Press Week Planning Committee and the Secretary, Mrs. Oris Aniretan, which stated that the ceremony is scheduled for December 30, 2024, at the NUJ Press Centre, Asaba, beginning at 11.00 a.m.
The statement disclosed that the event will also be attended by Sen. Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa West); Sen. Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North) and Sen. Ned Nwoko (Delta North), who will be the lead discussants of the theme of the press week: “Imperative of proper political leadership recruitment for good governance.”
Also, the planning committee stated that the the member representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Thomas Ereyitomi will chair the lecture and award ceremony to be co-chaired by a veteran journalist and an elder statesman, Chief Chris Biose.

It further added that a former member representing Oregon Federal Constituency, Patrick Obanyagbon, will deliver the keynote address, while the Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, will be the royal father of the day.
The three-day programme, the committee said will commence on December 29, 2024, with a media awareness/thanksgiving day for all journalists in the state to hold at the Living Faith Church, Okpanam at 9.00 a.m prompt.
On December 31, 2024, NUJ members will carry out community service during which members are expected to clean up some parts of the state.
The statement enjoined all members of the council, particularly those in the capital territory areas to participate actively in the events as scheduled.
