Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday undertook an on-the-spot inspection of key infrastructure projects in the Warri and Effurun metropolis, expressing satisfaction with the pace of work and reaffirming his commitment to delivering lasting traffic solutions for residents.
The Governor drove through the ongoing construction of the DSC Roundabout and Enerhen Junction flyovers, as well as the reconstruction and dualisation of a section of the Warri–Sapele–Benin Road, projects designed to decongest some of the busiest traffic corridors in the state.
Speaking to journalists during the inspection at Enerhen Junction, Governor Oborevwori said the interventions were already yielding positive results, particularly with the temporary opening of sections of the flyovers to ease vehicular movement during the Yuletide season.
According to him, the decision to allow partial use of the flyovers was made in response to the hardships faced by commuters, traders and residents over the past year due to construction activities.

“Because of the importance of these routes, especially during Christmas and New Year, I appealed to Julius Berger to ensure that key sections of the flyovers are temporarily opened to reduce traffic congestion,” the Governor explained.
He noted that one carriageway of the Enerhen Junction flyover had been largely completed and opened to traffic, while both sides of the DSC flyover were also made accessible to motorists to mitigate the usual festive gridlock in the area.
Governor Oborevwori acknowledged the patience and resilience of residents affected by the construction, assuring them that the discomfort would soon give way to improved mobility and a better urban experience.
“When there is pain, there will be enjoyment at the end. What we are seeing now is a clear indication that relief has come to Warri and Effurun,” he said.
The Governor further disclosed that, if weather conditions remain favourable, the three flyover projects and the ongoing road dualisation would be completed within the current dry season.
He commended the construction firm, Julius Berger, for maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism, noting that the choice of contractor reflected the state government’s resolve to deliver durable and world-class infrastructure.
Reiterating his commitment to peace and development across Delta State, Governor Oborevwori extended Christmas and New Year greetings to residents, urging them to continue supporting government efforts aimed at transforming the state.
“There is peace everywhere. I wish all Deltans a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” he said.
