The Goodnews Emamusi Obiodeh Foundation has announced a ₦5 million commitment to support the 2025 UNR Isoko Unity Football Competition, reaffirming its dedication to grassroots sports, peacebuilding, and youth empowerment across Delta State.
This year’s edition of the tournament will be hosted by the Igbide community in Isoko South Local Government Area and is scheduled to kick off on December 14. The competition promises to be one of the most exciting sporting events in the region, uniting communities and showcasing emerging football talents.
As part of its sponsorship, the Foundation has unveiled a ₦5 million prize fund. Male and female champions will each walk away with ₦1 million, while runners-up in both categories will earn ₦500,000. In addition, the highest goal scorers will receive ₦200,000 each, and every goal scored during the competition will attract a ₦100,000 bonus, a rare incentive expected to raise the level of excitement and competition.

Chief Goodnews Emamusi Obiodeh, Chairman of the Foundation and Delta State Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, will attend the event to personally endorse the initiative. He described sports as a “powerful tool for unity, discipline, and youth development,” adding that the Foundation’s investment reflects its commitment to using football as a bridge for peace and progress.
“Sport is a powerful force for community building and a brighter future,” Obiodeh said. “Our support for this tournament aligns with the vision of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, whose leadership continues to champion peace, inclusivity, and youth development across Delta State.”
The 2025 UNR Isoko Unity Cup is expected to draw widespread attention across the Niger Delta, highlighting the region’s passion for football and its commitment to nurturing young talent. Beyond the competition, the event will stand as a symbol of Isoko unity, resilience, and cultural pride.
