The National Youth Service Corps has cautioned Corps members against posting negative or misleading content on social media, warning that such behaviour could attract disciplinary action. The Scheme urged participants to use their online platforms to promote values that reflect positively on the NYSC and on the country.

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, Director General of the NYSC, delivered the warning on Friday while addressing the 2025 Batch C Corps members at the Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku. In a message shared on the official NYSC X account, he reminded them that the privilege of service comes with responsibility, including the duty to protect the image of the Scheme.

He advised the new Corps members to avoid unauthorised journeys, to comply with camp regulations, and to show respect for the customs and traditions of the communities where they will serve. He also encouraged them to take part actively in biometrics, Community Development Service, and other core activities that define the programme, noting that obedience to simple instructions remains essential to a successful service year.

Earlier, the Delta State Coordinator, Mr. John Kwaghe, presented a report on camp activities, stating that 2,101 Corps members had been deployed to the state. He described the atmosphere as orderly, adding that both men and women in the camp had shown steady discipline and enthusiasm as the programme progressed.

Brigadier General Nafiu delivered a similar reminder to Batch C Corps members in Rivers State, urging them to uphold the core values of patriotism, integrity, efficiency, transparency, and commitment throughout their service year. His repeated call reflects the Scheme’s concern over the growing influence of social media and the need to safeguard the NYSC’s reputation in a digital age.
