The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has relocated corps members from areas affected by conflict to safer locations in the state capital, Makurdi.
This decision was made in response to rising insecurity in Yelwata and Daudu, which has resulted in violent clashes in recent days.
NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Veronica Garba, stated that the evacuation was carried out in partnership with the state police command.
She mentioned that the relocated corps members have been taken to safe places, including family homes and offices of corps member associations in Makurdi.
She confirmed that all evacuated corps members are safe, accounted for, and receiving proper care.
“We understand the concern during such times, but we want to reassure parents that their children are in safe hands,” she said.
“We also request continued prayers and spiritual support, as it truly makes a difference.”

Mrs. Garba credited the prompt and effective response to the presence of new security leaders in the state, which she views as a positive step towards restoring peace.
She also addressed parents and guardians, expressing appreciation for their worries and assuring them that their children are being well looked after.
The evacuation of the corps members follows President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Makurdi, where he instructed security officials to restore order in the affected communities and hold those responsible for the violence accountable.
In the meantime, the NYSC has committed to closely monitoring the situation and prioritizing the safety of all corps members serving in the state.
