The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a safety and travel caution to prospective corps members of the 2026 Batch A Stream I, urging them to take necessary precautions while travelling to their orientation camps.
In a statement shared on Tuesday via the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters X handle, the scheme advised corps members to embark on their journeys strictly during daylight hours, warning that travelling at night exposes them to heightened security threats and road safety hazards.
The agency also encouraged prospective corps members to patronise only registered transport companies and approved motor parks in order to minimise risks associated with unsafe travel.
As part of the safety measures, the NYSC urged travellers to share their real-time location with family members or trusted contacts throughout their journey, noting that this could prove crucial in emergency situations.

Corps members were further advised to voice concerns if drivers engage in speeding or reckless behaviour, stressing that remaining silent in such circumstances could endanger lives.
The advisory also highlighted the importance of keeping mobile phones fully charged and carrying power banks to ensure uninterrupted communication while travelling.
NYSC stressed that prospective corps members should feel free to suspend their journey and continue the following day if it gets late, noting that no trip is worth risking one’s life.
The scheme reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and welfare of corps members and called for strict compliance with the guidelines as preparations for the 2026 Batch A Stream I orientation exercise intensify.
