The North-West Development Commission (NWDC) has officially launched applications for its highly competitive 2025/2026 foreign scholarship program. The initiative targets brilliant minds from the North-West region of Nigeria, offering fully funded opportunities for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies in globally recognized institutions abroad.
The NWDC, established under the NWDC Act of 2024 and signed into law by the current administration, is committed to accelerating transformation across the region through human capital investment. This latest scholarship scheme is a strategic step in building the next generation of scientists, educators, innovators, and thought leaders.
Eligible fields for the scholarship include Engineering, Medical Sciences, Agriculture, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Education. The Commission emphasizes that the application process is entirely free, ensuring equal access to all qualified candidates.
Applicants are expected to meet the following criteria:
Undergraduate candidates must have at least three distinctions in core science subjects and five credits in no more than two sittings. Applicants must be 22 years old or younger.

Master’s degree aspirants should possess a minimum CGPA of 3.8 and must be 35 years old or below.
PhD candidates must have a Master’s CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale and be under the age of 40.
To apply, candidates must prepare essential documents such as Curriculum Vitae (CV), academic certificates, NYSC discharge or exemption letter, official transcripts, a motivational letter, and a valid international passport. Specific documents vary by level of application.
The application window opens on May 5, 2025, and closes on May 18, 2025.
