The National Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has upheld the indefinite suspension imposed by the State congress on the Secretary of the Delta State Council, Victor Sorokwu.
This decision was taken in Kano, where the NEC meeting presided over by the NUJ President, Abdullahi Yahya asked the secretary to step aside pending a full and thorough investigation of the allegations of financial impropriety, high-handedness, and unethical practices made against him.
Insider sources from the NUJ national secretariat revealed that the embattled secretary had been asked to immediately hand over all the union’s property in his possession to the assistant secretary and stay away from the NUJ Press Centre, Asaba, until the investigation is concluded.
