The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, is grieving the death of Mrs. Nkiru Odafe, a member of the Grassroots Observer Chapel, who passed away after a brief illness.
Her demise represents the third loss suffered by the council this year, deepening the sense of sorrow within the journalism community in Delta State.
In a statement jointly signed by the Council Chairman, Churchill Oyowe, and acting Secretary, Josephine Omodior, the NUJ described her passing as a profound loss to both her family and professional colleagues.
Mrs. Odafe was an assistant director of information with Warri North Local Government Area in Koko.
She was known for her dedication to duty, professionalism, and commitment to the advancement of public information management.

The council paid tribute to her active participation in the affairs of the Grassroots Observer Chapel and acknowledged her contributions to journalism and public service.
Expressing deep sadness over the development, the NUJ prayed for divine protection over journalists in the state and expressed hope that the union would not witness further bereavements this year.
The council extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Mrs. Odafe and members of the Grassroots Observer Chapel, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss and eternal rest to her soul.
