The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, has tasked its officers on attaining mandates and ensuring proactive operations within Enugu State.
Audi gave the task on Monday in Enugu, while declaring open a week-long 2025 middle management retreat.
The retreat was themed: “Revisiting our mandate with proactive pragmatism: A pathway to sustainable impact”.
Represented by the Commandant of NSCDC Enugu State Command, Elijah Willie, the commandant general urged officers to rededicated themselves to the mandates of the corps and focus on achieving it.
“As a security agency saddled with so much security responsibilities (mandates) by the Act establishing us and emerging security threats facing the nation, this retreat has become imperative and apt.
“This retreat is part of the corps’ vision to use training and retraining in form of retreats, seminars and workshop to sharpen operation readiness and competencies of our officers and men.
“This retreat will uplift the capacities of officers and men of the corps to current security realities and challenges as well as better ways of tackling these challenges,” he said.
The commandant general noted that the retreat would lead to better performance and reduction in criminal activities within Enugu State and the country in general.
“Since, the corps started intensive and regular training and retraining, it has achieved better and high results in its mandates and it is committed to keep upping its achievement going forward,” he said.

Audi urged the participants to come with the mind-set of learning, adding that they would definitely go back as officers able to make the difference in their units, divisions, area commands and formation.
The commandant general said that middle management officers from the command’s seven area commands and 37 rivisional stations are currently participating in the week long retreat from August 4 to August 9.
He urged members of the public to assist the corps with actionable information to proactively check crime as well as provision of logistics and furnishing of the corps’ offices scattered in the state.
In a goodwill message, the Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Enugu State Command, Mr Abel Sunu, tasked the participants to use knowledge gained to improve the corps performance.
Sunu urged them to always follow standard operating procedure to ensure optimal success always.
The Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service, Enugu State Command, Mrs. Nkechi Enete, urged the officers to take their job seriously, be proactive and “ensure there is no lacuna”.
Enete, who was represented by Mr. Kalu Ndu, urged officers to “see something, say something”, adding that information and intelligence remained key to drive effective security.
