A new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Elijah Willie, has officially assumed duty at the NSCDC Enugu State Command.
The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC Enugu State Command, Mr Emmanuel Nwatu, in a statement on Monday, said that Willie assumed duty on Friday after a brief handing over formalities.
Nwatu, who is a Superintendent of Corp (SC), said that the new Commandant Willie succeeded the outgone Commandant of the Command, now an Assistant Commandant General (ACG), Mr Cyprian Otoibhi.
According to him, the handover was marked by the signing of the official documents and the ceremonial presentation of the NSCDC flag by the outgone Commandant to Willie, symbolising the transfer of command and responsibility.
“Following the handover ceremony, Otoibhi took the new Commandant on an extensive tour of the Command’s offices and facilities.

Nwatu noted that the Command looks forward to a new era under the leadership of Commandant Willie, who holds a doctorate degree in humanities.
He added, “The Command is confident that the new commandant will bring his wealth of experience to the position.
“His vision for the Command is expected to further enhance its operations, ensuring the protection of lives and critical national infrastructure in Enugu State.”
