In a renewed effort to tackle rising security threats in Anambra State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) have pledged to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, with a focus on intelligence sharing and joint operations.

This development emerged during a high-level meeting between the newly deployed DSS State Director, Mr. Victor Akeh, and the NSCDC State Commandant, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, during a courtesy visit to the NSCDC Headquarters in Awka.

Welcoming the DSS boss, Commandant Olatunde hailed the long-standing relationship between the two agencies, emphasizing that mutual cooperation has been pivotal in addressing the multifaceted security challenges in the state. He recalled the historical role of the DSS in the establishment of the NSCDC, describing the agency as a key ally in the fight against crime and insecurity.

According to Olatunde, intelligence sharing remains the bedrock of effective security enforcement. He stressed that both agencies are fighting a common enemy—criminal elements bent on destabilizing the peace of Anambra State. He noted that the courtesy visit reflects the growing need for synergy and a unified front in the state’s security architecture.

Mr. Akeh, in his remarks, stated that his visit was aimed at building stronger ties with the NSCDC and reaffirming the DSS’s commitment to working closely with sister agencies. He lauded the NSCDC for its unyielding dedication in protecting critical national and local infrastructure, particularly in curbing vandalism and securing public assets across the state.

The DSS Director underscored that security is a shared responsibility and called for continuous collaboration, noting that no single agency can singlehandedly combat insecurity. He stressed that the current security climate demands seamless coordination and information sharing, which are essential to building a crime-free Anambra.

Both leaders agreed that closing the gaps between agencies is crucial to maintaining peace, stability, and public trust. They also committed to expanding operational support and coordination to stay ahead of emerging threats.

The renewed alliance between the NSCDC and DSS is expected to boost intelligence-led operations and enhance the broader mission of ensuring safety for residents and businesses in Anambra State.
