The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 1,531 operatives to provide security and surveillance around critical national, state, and local government assets and infrastructure ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the state on Thursday May, 8, 2025.
NSCDC Anambra State Commandant, Commandant Maku Olatunde, disclosed this after a high-level strategic tactical briefing with very senior officers, area commanders, divisional officers, heads of formations, and composite commanders at the state command headquarters in Awka.
He outlined the deployment strategy, noting that personnel will be drawn from Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Delta States to reinforce security operations in Anambra State.
According to him, the NSCDC, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, has intensified covert surveillance, increased joint operations, including raids on criminal hideouts, as well as confidence-building patrols within the state, reinforcing the readiness of security agencies to emplace a secure environment throughout the visit.
“The command had made robust security arrangements with sister security agencies to ensure a successful state visit of Mr. President, the first critical asset in the country.

“Our personnel would be positioned in strategic locations including the airport, bridges, government buildings, parks, markets, electricity sub-stations, telecommunication facilities, solution fun city facilities, and other sensitive locations across the state before, during, and after the visit,” he said.
The NSCDC state commandant, while reaffirming the command’s personnel readiness to line up the identified routes, said the personnel of the corps will be part of the human shield against the crowd obstructing the free-flow of Mr. President’s entourage on the mapped out routes, in addition to access control of some locations.
This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the head Media and Tactical Unit, Okadigbo Edwin and made available to journalists in Awka.
The state NSCDC boss, while cautioning operatives to exhibit a high sense of responsibility, professionalism, civility, and coordination, especially in synergy with other sister security agencies, advised members of the public to be law-abiding as they troop out en masse to welcome the president.
