The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has deployed 1,350 personnel across the state to ensure adequate security during the Yuletide season.
State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing on the command’s Yuletide security preparedness and strategic deployment.
He said the move was informed by prevailing security challenges such as phone snatching, thuggery, banditry, kidnapping attempts and other forms of public disorder.
According to him, the personnel, supported by additional tactical teams and rapid response units, have been strategically deployed to urban, peri-urban and rural areas with known crime concentrations. He explained that the operatives would conduct continuous foot and mobile patrols at major highways, markets, motor parks, entry and exit points, as well as public and social venues to deter criminal activities.
Agalama added that the command had strengthened intelligence sharing and operational collaboration with other security agencies in the state to enhance efficiency and rapid response during the festive period.
While calling on the public to see security as a collective responsibility by remaining vigilant and promptly reporting suspicious activities, the commandant assured them of the corps’ readiness to protect lives and property, including critical national assets and infrastructure, warning vandals and criminal gangs to desist from tampering with public facilities and private property.
