The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has condemned the gruesome killing of innocent travelers who were attacked while journeying in an 18-seater bus from Basawa community in Zaria, Kaduna State, to Qua’an Pan Local Government Council in Plateau State.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Senator AbdulAziz Yar’Adua, the forum described the attack as a “barbaric and cowardly act” that has no place in a civilized society.
It expressed deep sympathy to the government and people of Kaduna State and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
“This mindless violence is not only unacceptable but also a direct assault on the constitutional right of Nigerians to move freely and reside anywhere in the country, as guaranteed by Section 41 of the 1999 Constitution,” the statement read.
The NSF warned that such acts of senseless violence threaten the fragile fabric of Nigeria’s national unity and called for urgent action to forestall further bloodshed.
The forum urged the police to improve their intelligence-gathering and operational capabilities to prevent future attacks and ensure that perpetrators are apprehended and prosecuted without delay.

In addition, the senators appealed to the federal government to provide security agencies with modern communication and surveillance equipment to aid in tracking and intercepting criminal elements before they strike.
The statement also called on communities in affected areas to remain calm and avoid reprisal attacks that could worsen the security situation.
Finally, the forum urged the Plateau State Government to redouble its efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence among diverse ethnic and religious groups in the state, emphasizing the need for unity and collective security.
The attack has drawn widespread condemnation across the country, as security agencies continue investigations into the incident.
