The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has condemned the killing of at least 35 abducted victims by bandits in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, describing the attack as a tragic reflection of Nigeria’s worsening security crisis.
In a condolence message released on Wednesday in Abuja, Chairman of the Forum, Sen. Abdulaziz Yar’adua, expressed deep sorrow over the massacre, particularly the killing of residents who were reportedly murdered despite paying ransom to their abductors.
Sen. Yar’adua lamented the incident as a “painful reminder of Nigeria’s deepening security challenges,” adding that such atrocities do not reflect the true values of the north.
“We condemn this heinous act in the strongest possible terms and declare that it does not reflect the values, people, and aspirations of the North,” he said.

“Our region is known for its hospitality, peace, and tranquility, and such acts of violence only serve to undermine our cherished values.”
The forum extended its condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Kaura Namoda, praying for the repose of the departed souls and calling for divine strength for the bereaved.
“We stand in solidarity with the people of Zamfara State during this difficult time and pray that Allah grants the departed souls eternal rest. May their families find solace in the face of this tragedy,” the statement read.
The senators urged urgent and sustained action by security agencies to prevent a recurrence of such attacks.
They called for closer collaboration between federal security forces and local vigilante groups to track and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We urge the security agencies to collaborate with local vigilantes to ensure that those responsible for this atrocity are brought to justice,” the statement emphasized.
“Furthermore, we call on the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to be more proactive in their response to security threats.
“Intelligence gathering and sharing among agencies must be improved to prevent such incidents in the future.”
While commending President Bola Tinubu for his ongoing support to the nation’s security architecture, including increased funding and the recent mass recruitment drive, the Northern Senators Forum stressed the need for sustained training and equipping of security personnel to effectively combat rising insecurity in the region.
