The meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-East to endorse President Bola Tinubu for another term ended in chaos, following protests by aggrieved members over the non-mention of Vice President Kashim Shettima.
During the APC stakeholders’ gathering in Gombe on Sunday, Mustapha Salihu, the National Vice Chairman for the North-East, ignited outrage by expressing his support for Tinubu as the candidate without opposition, deliberately omitting Shettima, who is from Borno State.
Attendees reacted with fury, with some individuals even threatening violence, prompting security personnel to swiftly remove Salihu from the venue for his safety.

Efforts by the Deputy National Chairman, Bukar Dalori, to alleviate the situation by including Shettima in the motion to endorse Tinubu were insufficient to ease the tension in the room.
The situation grew worse when the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, also supported Tinubu for another term, again failing to mention Shettima’s name.
Similar to Salihu, Ganduje needed assistance to exit the venue as the meeting descended into chaos.
