Nollywood actress Ngozi Ezeonu has sparked a conversation about professionalism in the entertainment industry, urging aspiring actresses to dress modestly during auditions. In a video that quickly went viral, Ezeonu addressed two women attending an audition where she was a judge, questioning their choice of attire, particularly their decision not to wear bras.

Ezeonu emphasized that such dress choices contribute to the negative perception of actors as unserious and warned that any future participants appearing inappropriately dressed would be disqualified. She made it clear that auditions should be treated with the same seriousness as job interviews, highlighting that attire plays a crucial role in conveying professionalism and commitment to one’s craft.

The video has sparked mixed reactions on X (formerly Twitter). Some users supported Ezeonu’s stance, equating auditions to job interviews where first impressions matter. One user, @Evegewere, wrote, “AUDITION IS A JOB INTERVIEW for Aspiring Actors/Actresses. So, Dress Properly next time… Kudos to Madam Ngozi.”

Others, like @IamCandyboy, argued, “It’s an audition. The least you can do is to dress appropriately. Can you go braless or wear a crop top to an office interview?” They stressed the importance of professionalism in any setting.

However, not everyone agreed with Ezeonu’s public approach. Some criticized her for embarrassing the women in front of others, suggesting that advice could have been offered privately. @Chidi_ik tweeted, “She could have just called them to one side to advise them instead of embarrassing them like that. This is wrong.”

The discussion also touched on the wider issue of fashion trends in the industry, with some suggesting that aspiring actresses may feel pressured to conform to certain standards. @Maverl_Chidi noted, “Is it their fault? No. They are following their senior colleagues’ footsteps. Is she not seeing what is happening in the industry? Without nakedness, they won’t go far.”

In the end, the debate reinforced the idea that while personal comfort is important, professionalism should take priority in auditions to ensure that actors are taken seriously and treated with respect.
