The Catholic Bishop of Aba Diocese, Most Rev. (Prof.) Augustine Ndubueze Echema, has declared that no one can challenge Governor Alex Otti in 2027 because the governor’s remarkable achievements are speaking louder than any campaign.

Bishop Echema made this declaration on Sunday during the thanksgiving service of Rev. Dr. Christian Ikpeamaeze at St. Peter Claver Catholic Parish, Umueleghele, Eketa, in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.

According to the respected Catholic Bishop, Governor Otti’s visible developmental strides across Abia State have not only silenced critics but have also rekindled the pride of Abians in their heritage. “Your good works will campaign for you,” Bishop Echema said, adding, “Even if some cannot see, they can certainly hear. Nobody believed governance could be this good, this easy, and this effective. Today, Aba is clean, and roads are being built—not patched, but properly constructed.”

He pointed to the newly reconstructed Port Harcourt Road in Aba as a symbol of the governor’s commitment to durable infrastructure, stressing that it serves as a benchmark for judging any government in Abia State. “What I say is what I see,” Bishop Echema emphasized. “We are grateful to you, Governor Otti. For the first time, Abians are proud to be Abians, and proud of their governor.”

The Bishop noted that businesses and residents who had deserted key areas like Port Harcourt Road are now returning, thanks to Governor Otti’s people-centered governance. He praised the governor’s efforts in creating an enabling environment for economic activities to thrive.

Highlighting the cordial relationship between the Catholic Church and the Abia State government, Bishop Echema revealed that across Nigeria, when Abia is discussed, it is in glowing terms. “People are amazed at how Governor Otti is funding massive development projects without noise,” he said.

The Bishop also recalled Governor Otti’s visit to Christ the King Cathedral, Aba, during the 2024 Chrism Mass, where he promised pensioners that their long-overdue pensions would soon be paid. “It was not just talk. It happened,” Bishop Echema confirmed, as the congregation erupted in applause. He praised the governor for prioritizing workers’ welfare, ensuring regular salary payments, and addressing pension arrears.

Bishop Echema ended his address with a prophetic blessing: “I stand here to thank you today for your good works. As you continue, no evil, no Jupiter, can stop you. Nobody can challenge you because your good works will speak for you.”

Earlier in the service, Governor Alex Otti expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for preserving the life of Rev. Dr. Christian Ikpeamaeze, who survived a complicated seven-hour surgery in Germany last year.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare in Abia State. He announced that plans were underway to begin the construction of a medical village in Isiala Ngwa South that would end the trend of medical tourism among Nigerians.

The governor also revealed that 200 Primary Healthcare Centers are currently undergoing renovation across the state’s 184 wards, with another 200 set to follow until all 948 centers are upgraded to deliver quality healthcare services to the people of Abia.

In addition, Governor Otti announced the imminent completion of a brand new Eketa Market, which will serve as a model for modern market development across the state.

Rev. Dr. Ikpeamaeze, overwhelmed with gratitude, thanked God for sparing his life and lauded Governor Otti for the massive transformation taking place across Abia State. “Some places I passed today, I could not recognize them because of the positive changes. Thank you, Governor Otti,” he said.
