The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has enjoined Nigerians to patronise made in Nigeria products to grow the economy and create more jobs for the teeming unemployed youths.
Kano State Director of the agency, Alhaji Haruna Lawal, who gave the charge while addressing newsmen during a sensitisation programme in Kano recently, described the patronage of local products in preference for foreign products, as a strategic means to encourage local industries and grow the nation’s economy.

The sensitisation programme with the theme: Change Begins With The Patronage Of Made In Nigeria Products, attracted many Nigerians to the occasion.
“If we don’t patronise our products, our economy will crash. The need to patronise made-in-Nigeria products and services cannot be overemphasized, as it is one major way to economic growth and development.
“The economy of any nation grows rapidly when we patronise and promote our locally made products. First, it is people and then exports because as they say, charity begins at home. No nation can truly develop when its economy is at the mercy of foreign products and services. Most developed nations of the world are sustained by production,” he said.

Lawal explained that if made-in-Nigeria products were adequately patronised, the economy would improve and more jobs would be created for the youths, adding that Nigerian producers should be proud of their products and charge Nigerian industries to be competitive by producing quality goods and services.

He added that the NOA would educate, enlighten and also use motorised method of sensitisation by going to markets with banners to talk to them and engage media practitioners to effectively disseminate information across the state.
Lawal noted that the agency would soon embark on advocacy visits to district, village and ward leaders to sensitise them on the importance of patronising local products and services.
