The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has stated that it has not received any official confirmation regarding the release of 100 students who were recently kidnapped in Niger State.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 8, the Chairman of the Niger State chapter of CAN, Bishop Bulus Yohanna, expressed that it would be wonderful news to hear about the freedom of the abducted individuals.

However, he mentioned that there has been no information provided about their current situation to the grieving communities.
“It would bring joy if some of our children had been freed. We have been praying and hoping for their return.
“If this news is true, it would be uplifting. However, we are not officially informed and have not received any proper notification.
“We hope and pray that it is indeed true, and we look forward to the release of the remaining individuals,” the statement said.
It would be recalled that on November 21, 2025, bandits attacked St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School in the remote community of Papiri, abducting a total of 315 individuals—303 students and 12 teachers.
Fifty students managed to escape on the first day and were reunited with their families.
