Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on political leaders at all levels to embrace humility, accountability, and service to the people, stressing that no leader is greater than those who gave them the mandate to serve.
Speaking at Orhuwhorun in Udu Local Government Area during the combined 50th and 19th memorial ceremony of the late Chief Palama Akporhierayen and his wife, Esther, the governor reminded leaders that true leadership is rooted in selflessness and the pursuit of the common good.
“No leader is bigger than the people. As leaders, we must remain loyal to those who entrusted us with power,” Gov. Oborevwori declared, urging both political figures and community stakeholders to practise servant leadership and unity of purpose in advancing the development of Delta State.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented governance under his MORE Agenda, noting that his administration will continue to invest in infrastructure, security, and human capital to enhance the welfare of citizens.
Gov. Oborevwori also disclosed that the state government would soon commence the reconstruction of the ECN Road in Udu to ease movement and stimulate economic activities.

According to him, the decision followed persistent appeals from residents and commuters who have endured hardship due to the road’s poor state.
He further announced that the Udu Harbour Market, a project that had been stalled for nearly two decades, is nearing completion and will soon be inaugurated.
Commending Palama for organizing the memorial in honour of his late parents, the governor said such acts strengthen family values and preserve legacies.
Gov. Oborevwori appealed to the people of Udu to remain united, noting that peace and cooperation are essential for meaningful and sustainable development.
“Development thrives where there is unity. I will continue to support the aspirations of the Udu people, but unity must come first,” he added.
The governor expressed gratitude to traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents for their support and reiterated his administration’s resolve to promote inclusive governance and equal development across Delta State.
