A fresh internal crisis has hit the New Nigeria People’s Party in Kano State following the expulsion of the party’s State Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, by executive members of Gargari Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.
The decision was taken at the ward’s second executive meeting held two weeks after the general election, where 27 executive members unanimously endorsed a resolution removing Dungurawa from the party. The meeting was chaired by the Gargari Ward Chairman, Shuaibu Hassan, and attended by the Ward Secretary, Yahaya Saidu Dungurawa.
According to the resolution, the ward executives accused the NNPP chairman of engaging in anti-party activities that allegedly undermined the stability of the party in Kano State. The allegations include creating divisions among party members, instigating internal crises, failure to pay mandatory party dues, and making what were described as abusive and disparaging remarks against the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The executives said the actions attributed to Dungurawa were unacceptable and posed a serious threat to the unity, public image, and future growth of the NNPP in the state. They stressed that no individual, regardless of position, is above party rules and internal discipline.

The ward leadership maintained that the expulsion was carried out in line with the provisions of the NNPP constitution, noting that discipline, loyalty, and cohesion remain the foundation of the party’s structure at all levels.
They disclosed that copies of the resolution had been forwarded to the party’s local government, state, and national secretariats for further action. The decision was also formally communicated to the NNPP national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for their information and guidance.
The Gargari Ward executives said the move was intended to serve as a warning to party officials who abuse positions of authority or act in ways that weaken internal unity.
They reaffirmed their loyalty to the NNPP national leadership under Senator Kwankwaso and pledged continued support for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, insisting that peace, unity, and discipline must prevail for the party to maintain its political strength in Kano State.
