The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of petrol at various retail locations throughout the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

As of Monday morning, it was observed that drivers can now purchase petrol for N815 per litre at many NNPCL stations in Abuja, down from the previous price of N835.

This recent change reflects a N20 decrease and is already in effect at outlets across different areas of the city.

NNPCL stations in Wuse Zones 4 and 6, along the Keffi–Abuja Road, and on the Kubwa Expressway are now selling petrol at the updated price.

Fuel attendants at these stations indicated that the price adjustment was implemented quietly on Sunday evening.

They confirmed that the change was mandated by management, and sales prices were promptly updated.

Despite this reduction, NNPCL’s prices are still higher than those offered by some private retailers.

At MRS stations supplied by the Dangote Refinery, petrol is currently priced at N739 per litre.

This creates a price gap of N79 per litre between NNPCL outlets and certain privately owned stations.

Industry analysts suggest that the frequent price fluctuations indicate increasing competition in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector.

Operators are adjusting their prices in response to changes in supply and the influence of locally refined petroleum products.

Previously, on December 19, 2025, NNPCL had also lowered petrol prices by N80.

That decision followed Dangote Refinery’s reduction of its gantry price to N699 per litre, prompting marketers to adjust their pump prices nationwide.

The latest price cut indicates that the competition in the petrol market continues, as consumers remain hopeful for further price relief at the pumps.
