The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has confirmed that a reported breach on a section of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System in South West Warri, Delta State, has been successfully contained. This was contained in a press statement signed by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Limited, Andy Odeh and made available to journalists.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, December 11, 2025, prompted an immediate response from NNPC Limited and relevant regulatory and technical partners. According to the company, coordinated containment measures were swiftly deployed to secure the affected area, ensuring the safety of host communities, personnel, and the environment.

NNPC said all relevant sections of the pipeline have been safely isolated, preventing further risk or escalation. A joint preliminary inspection of the affected site has already been carried out by technical teams from NNPC Limited, the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, and designated maintenance contractors.
The operator of the pipeline network, NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company, has activated its Business Continuity Plan to manage any operational impact on stakeholders, including gas shippers and suppliers connected to the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System.
The company stated that it remains in close contact with host communities, Delta State authorities, and other critical stakeholders, noting that their cooperation has been instrumental in managing the situation effectively.
NNPC Limited reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of host communities, environmental protection, and the reliability of its infrastructure nationwide, assuring the public that further updates would be provided as necessary.
