Gateway United FC to start its Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign for the 2021/2022 season with the Owerri-based football club, Campos FC.
The match fixed for Saturday, February 12 will be played at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
The club, which missed promotion to a higher division after finishing third on the league table with 37 points, undertook a lot of preseason-friendly games to get the team prepared ahead of the new NNL season.

From reports by Brila media, the acting coach of Gateway United FC, Toyin Ayinla affirmed that the series of games played by the club have prepared them ahead of the season.
Ayinla said, “The first game is always significant. Most times, it indicates the outlook of the season, therefore, all is set to get off to a flying start and consolidate on that in our subsequent games.
“The talking is better done on the pitch. When our fans see the output of our efforts through results, I think that speaks louder than words. We know the task before us, we are not oblivious of what is expected from us and we will do all within our capacity to attain our goal.
“Our preparation has been smooth. The players have shown the right hunger and aspiration required to have a great season.
“The support from the state government, the management of the club, and our teeming supporters has been massive and we are ready to have a fantastic season but one game after the other. For now, our focus is one the first hurdle on Saturday,” he added.
Gateway United in its preseason tour played the Dapo Abiodun preseason tournament and grade-A friendly games while also getting to the final of Ogun FA.
