Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chinamaka Precious, following allegations of assaulting a lecturer. The university’s acting Vice-Chancellor approved the expulsion based on a report submitted by the Student Disciplinary Committee.
According to the official expulsion letter dated February 13, 2025, Precious, a History and International Studies student, was found guilty of gross misconduct and a severe violation of the university’s Student Disciplinary Regulations, specifically Regulation 4. The incident involved an assault on a faculty member from the Department of Theater and Film Studies, which led to disciplinary action.

The letter, signed by the acting Registrar, Mr. Victor I. Modebelu, confirmed that the University Senate had endorsed the committee’s recommendation for immediate expulsion. The expelled student has been instructed to vacate the university premises without delay and return any school property in their possession.
The decision has drawn attention within the university community, with students and faculty members reacting to the severity of the punishment. While some support the institution’s firm stance on disciplinary matters, others have called for a thorough review of the circumstances leading to the expulsion.
