The leadership of the Yobe State branch of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has denied issuing a purported notice of an indefinite statewide strike, set to commence on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
In a statement released to media practitioners on Saturday, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs, Mal Mamman Mohammed, clarified that the alleged bulletin did not originate from the state NLC and was baseless.
Mohammed stated that the state NLC chairman has refuted the strike notice, stating that the union has no knowledge of such plans.

He revealed further that the personal status page of the state NLC chairman had been hacked by unidentified individuals who shared the fake strike bulletin to mislead the public.
“The notice is the work of mischief-makers. We urge the public to disregard it in its entirety,” Mohammed stated.
The Senior Special Assistant on Digital and Strategic Communications, Yusuf Ali, echoed the clarification, reiterating that the bulletin is false and advised citizens to rely on verified information.
In the statement, the Yobe State Government, reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining industrial harmony in the state.
