Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku is on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge after AC Milan agreed a £36 million package, including add-ons, to sign the French striker. The 27-year-old has accepted a pay cut to complete the switch to Italy, with a five-year contract and medical tests already scheduled.
Nkunku’s departure comes just as Chelsea step up negotiations to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. The 21-year-old Argentine has not featured for United this season and has been training away from the senior squad, fueling speculation of an exit. Although the fee is still under discussion, sources suggest an agreement between the two clubs is close.
The Blues have inserted a sell-on clause into the Nkunku deal, ending his two-year spell in West London. Signed from RB Leipzig in 2023 for £52 million, Nkunku scored 18 goals and registered five assists in 62 appearances. He also played a vital role in Chelsea’s Club World Cup and Conference League triumphs earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is in talks over a move to Bayern Munich, initially on loan but potentially with a buy option.
Financially, Nkunku’s sale represents a significant boost for Chelsea. The club has now raised an estimated £309 million from player sales against roughly £277 million in spending. That figure could rise further if Garnacho joins, helping the club balance the books amid UEFA sanctions. Chelsea has already been fined €31 million (£26.7 million) and must maintain a positive transfer balance to register new players for next season’s Champions League.
Nkunku’s exit signals another chapter in Chelsea’s turbulent rebuild. With Garnacho’s arrival edging closer, fans are bracing for a new-look attack as the club seeks to climb back to the top of English and European football.
