The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI), has launched a groundbreaking road show tagged “GITEX Nigeria 2025.” The initiative is set to roll out across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones this July, marking a new era of tech engagement and outreach in the country.

Announced via the official X handle of the organizers, the tech road show is designed to spotlight the upcoming GITEX Nigeria 2025 event, generate excitement, and foster public-private dialogue around technology adoption, digital transformation, and innovation opportunities for Nigerians across different regions.

The campaign will begin in Enugu State, representing the South-East zone, on July 15, 2025. It then moves to Gombe State in the North-East on July 17, Kano State in the North-West on July 20, Abuja for the North-Central zone on July 22, and Akwa Ibom for the South-South on July 24. Each location will host a unique broadcast that aligns with the local tech ecosystem while driving conversations around the immense potential of GITEX Nigeria 2025.

GITEX, short for Gulf Information Technology Exhibition, is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious technology expos, held annually in Dubai. Known for drawing global industry leaders, innovators, startups, and policymakers, GITEX serves as a platform for showcasing revolutionary technologies in artificial intelligence, 5G, cloud computing, cybersecurity, IoT, and more. It also provides networking opportunities, investment matchmaking, and access to groundbreaking insights from tech pioneers.

Beyond the showcase, GITEX has established itself as the global convergence point for government and industry partnerships. With over 800 government entities participating annually, the event has become the largest global government representation forum, often resulting in multi-million-dollar deals, policy dialogues, and innovation alliances.

Over the last 40 years, the GITEX brand has evolved to include sub-events like AI Everything, GITEX Future Stars, Fintech Surge, Future Blockchain Summit, and Marketing Mania, covering a wide spectrum of technology trends and future-forward industries. The upcoming Nigerian edition promises to mirror this diversity, creating opportunities for local innovators, digital entrepreneurs, and public institutions to align with global trends.

With the launch of the GITEX Nigeria 2025 tech road show, NITDA and ONDI are signaling a strong commitment to bridging the digital divide, inspiring grassroots innovation, and placing Nigeria firmly on the global technology map. As anticipation builds across the six zones, the road campaign is expected to spark national conversations, spotlight emerging tech talents, and prepare the country for an inclusive and impactful GITEX experience.

Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, says Nigeria is reinforcing its standing as a premier technology hub in Africa, through the transformation of its cybersecurity landscape. The minister stated this ahead of the National Cybersecurity Conference with the theme: “Building a resilient digital future: Innovation, collaboration and resilience.” The conference will attract key decision-makers, cybersecurity experts, and industry leaders to discuss shaping the next chapter of Nigeria’s digital defense strategy. Tijani said that with Nigeria embracing digital transformation across sectors, the threats to the nation’s digital infrastructure, economy, and individual citizens are growing increasingly more sophisticated. Recognizing the critical need to address these challenges with foresight and collaboration, the minister asserted that the meeting presents a timely and strategic platform for fostering resilience, knowledge exchange, and cross-sector partnerships. The minister commended the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) for its leadership role in advancing Nigeria’s cybersecurity framework. “This event is a high-impact platform for strategic dialogue, inter-agency collaboration, and the forging of cross-sector partnerships. “It signals Nigeria’s rising leadership in cybersecurity across both regional and global spheres, addressing the imperative for robust, adaptive cyber resilience in an increasingly complex threat landscape. “Between May and December 2024, Nigeria moved from the 35th to the 13th position on the global threat index, indicating a surge in cyberattacks. “In the first half of 2024, Nigeria recorded 2,721 cyber incidents, underscoring the nation’s growing vulnerability to digital threats. “Between May and December 2024, Nigeria moved from the 35th to the 13th position on the global threat index, indicating a surge in cyberattacks,” he added.
