The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced a full-scale maintenance shutdown of its Passport Digital Platform, a move officials describe as vital to keep the system stable and safe. The work begins at midnight on December 12 and is expected to run until the early hours of December 14, creating a two-day window when users may struggle to access core passport services.
The Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, explained in Abuja that the period may come with slow responses, brief outages or limited access. He noted that the upgrade is aimed at strengthening the digital passport ecosystem and ensuring that the platform can handle rising demand without service failures. Technical teams have been placed on continuous duty to bring the system back to full operation within the stated schedule.

The Contact Centre numbers remain active throughout the period and will attend to complaints at all hours.
