The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted hazy weather and thunderstorms across the country from Tuesday to Thursday.

According to the forecast, on Tuesday, areas in Katsina and Kano States may experience a slight dust haze.

However, NiMet says thunderstorms are expected to develop in Taraba and Adamawa States in the afternoon and evening.

In the North Central region, the agency predicted sunny skies with some clouds, along with a chance of thunderstorms in Nasarawa State during the morning.

Later in the day, thunderstorms may affect Kogi, Kwara, Benue States, and the Federal Capital Territory.

In the southern part of Nigeria, the weather is expected to be cloudy with some sunshine, and a possibility of isolated thunderstorms in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa States during the morning.

Thunderstorms could also occur later in the day in other southern states like Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, Edo, Abia, Imo, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom.

On Wednesday, NiMet predicts cloudy skies with some sunshine in the northern states throughout the day.

Thunderstorms are likely in Taraba and Adamawa States in the afternoon or evening.

In the North Central region, NiMet expects thunderstorms in the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Benue, Kogi, Niger, and Nasarawa States during the afternoon and evening.

Similarly, in the south, thunderstorms may hit Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers States in the morning, followed by more storms later in the day across various southern states.

For Thursday, sunny skies with some clouds are anticipated in the northern region.

The North Central region should also see sunny weather in the morning, with thunderstorms expected in the afternoon in the Federal Capital Territory and neighboring states.

In the southern region, NiMet expects cloudy skies with chances of morning thunderstorms in Delta and Bayelsa States, and more storms later in the day in several southern states, including Osun, Ekiti, Lagos, and others.

NiMet advises Nigerians to take precautions due to the presence of dust in the air, especially those with respiratory issues.

“Strong winds may come before the rain, so it’s essential to secure loose items and avoid driving in heavy rain.

“Remember to unplug electrical appliances and stay away from tall trees to avoid falling branches.

“Airline operators should check specific weather reports for their airports to plan their flights effectively,” the agency advised.
