Nigerians in the Republic of Cameroon have sent a congratulatory message to Akwa Ibom state governor-elect pastor Umo Eno ahead of his inauguration next week.
They also appealed to the new governor to make the promise of direct flight of Ibom Air from Uyo to Duala corridor a reality.
In a solidarity message under the aegis of Coalition of Nigerians in Cameroon signed by the President Mr Peter Edet and Chief Emeka Ajuonuma as well as other members respectively, the group explained that making the
Uyo-Douala Corridor a reality by Ibom Air, would strengthen and boost a robust socio-economic relationship between the two countries.
The statement reads in parts :
“We, Nigerians in Cameroon are happy to identify with the Akwa Ibom government because we have seen a vision that will ease our movement, boost our trades and give us a sense of belonging as a people.
The group recalled that the immediate past administration of Gov Udom Emmanuel had promised that Ibom Aircrafts will commence flight operations to Douala in Cameroon adding that they understand the inherent logistics that could not guarantee the fulfillment of such promise.
“That is why we appeal to Your Excellency, to hit the ground running, by bringing to reality the regular international flights between Akwa Ibom and Cameroon,” they said.
The group rejoiced with Pastor Umo Eno, on his planned swearing-in as the Executive Governor of the State next week.
