Nigerians in the Republic of Cameroon have sent a congratulatory message to Akwa Ibom state governor-elect pastor Umo Eno ahead of his inauguration next week.

They also appealed to the new governor to make the promise of direct flight of Ibom Air from Uyo to Duala corridor a reality.

In a solidarity message under the aegis of Coalition of Nigerians in Cameroon signed by the President Mr Peter Edet and Chief Emeka Ajuonuma as well as other members respectively, the group explained that making the
Uyo-Douala Corridor a reality by Ibom Air, would strengthen and boost a robust socio-economic relationship between the two countries.

The statement reads in parts :
“We, Nigerians in Cameroon are happy to identify with the Akwa Ibom government because we have seen a vision that will ease our movement, boost our trades and give us a sense of belonging as a people.

The group recalled that the immediate past administration of Gov Udom Emmanuel had promised that Ibom Aircrafts will commence flight operations to Douala in Cameroon adding that they understand the inherent logistics that could not guarantee the fulfillment of such promise.

“That is why we appeal to Your Excellency, to hit the ground running, by bringing to reality the regular international flights between Akwa Ibom and Cameroon,” they said.

The group rejoiced with Pastor Umo Eno, on his planned swearing-in as the Executive Governor of the State next week.

“Your Excellency, your landslide victory at the March 25th, 2023 polls is the manifestation of the confidence that Akwa Ibom people have in you as somebody who has outstandingly followed the development of the State since its creation.

“The Golden Boy,” may your swearing-in as the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State with your able Deputy Governor, Sen. Akon Eyakenyi, bring unprecedented development to the nooks and crannies of the State.

“As a seasoned technocrat and an administrator, entrepreneur of no mean repute, visionary and pragmatic personality, a goal-getter and a Clergy, who have been tested and trusted, we do not doubt that you shall bring your wealth of experience to-re-enact and consolidate on good governance in all its departments in the State.

The group hoped that with Pastor Umo Eno on the saddle, Akwa Ibom state has commenced a new deal in leadership, accountability and development.

“We pledged our loyalty and support to the governor and pray that the Almighty God grant him the wisdom of Solomon to steer the ship of the State.”
