Nigerians in Diaspora have petitioned President Bola Tinubu over their N375 billion investment in the country, which they claim is under threat.
In the petition, they alleged that their $250 million investments have suffered significant losses, due to the actions of the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
Writing under the aegis of the Association of Nigerians in Diaspora, highlighted in the petition to Tinubu, that their over $250 million (approximately N375 billion) investment in real estate in Nigeria, have been unjustly destroyed.
Addressing journalists in Houston, Texas, on February 23, 2025, Stella Okengwu, the Managing Director of Winhomes Global Services Limited, appealed for the president’s urgent intervention to protect their investments in a property, located in Okun Ajah, Lagos State.
Despite following all legal protocols, including obtaining necessary approvals, the investors allege that Umahi has engaged in illegal demolitions, and mismanagement of their property.
The petitioners listed their grievances, to include the illegal diversion of a coastal road that now infringes on their land, and public attacks on Okengwu, where Umahi falsely painted her as a land grabber.

“We suspect that Umahi’s actions are motivated by personal gains and corruption, particularly concerning preferential treatment for illegal encroachments, while targeting law-abiding investors,” the petitioners said.
They emphasizes the harmful implications of Umahi’s actions on the investment climate in Nigeria, and called for his immediate removal or resignation.
The petitioners stressed that they have appealed to various governmental bodies for assistance, but their concerns have gone unaddressed.
They therefore reiterated their appeal to President Tinubu, to swiftly act to uphold the rule of law, and protect legitimate investments in Nigeria
