The Nigerian Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has re-elected Engineer Musa Nimrod as President for a third consecutive term, extending his leadership of the sport’s governing body until 2029.
The elective congress took place on Monday, February 22, 2025, at the Package B Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, where Nimrod emerged unopposed. His re-election cements his position as one of the longest-serving sports administrators in Nigeria.
Alongside the presidency, the congress also elected representatives for key board positions. Crown Prince Babatunde Omisora was chosen as First Vice President and also retained his role as the South West Zonal Representative. In the North Central Zone, Barshe Amakiri Bolcit secured victory with four votes to her opponent’s two.
The elections further saw Samuel Timothy, popularly known as Sam T, clinch the National Technical Representative seat with 54 votes against 24, while Dauda Saje was voted National Players Representative, defeating Matthew Ejeh and Harrison Anyasidike. In the North East, retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Stephen Hasso won unopposed after his opponent, Hamzat Yakmut, cast his vote in his favor. Nwosu Kingsley triumphed in a close South East contest, edging Philomina Nwando by 3 votes to 2, while Hon. Famous Daunemigha was re-elected as South South Zonal Representative.

In his acceptance speech, Nimrod expressed gratitude to the volleyball community for their trust and pledged to build on his previous achievements. “Every term comes with new experiences and greater lessons. I promise to work harder to elevate Nigerian volleyball to international recognition,” he said. He called on the newly elected board members to work together regardless of office, stressing that unity is vital for the sport’s growth.
The NVBF President also commended the technical committee and election organizers for a transparent process and appreciated the National Sports Commission for its continuous support in funding and promoting volleyball. He announced that the official inauguration of the new executives would be held once the NSC concludes its current international assignments.
With his re-election, Musa Nimrod is expected to push forward with development programs, grassroots competitions, and international exposure for Nigerian volleyball, as stakeholders look to the next four years with renewed expectations.
