The troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, under Operation Golden Peace and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have successfully disrupted criminal activities in Taraba and parts of Benue States, bolstering security in the region.
In a press statement issued in Jalingo, the Army detailed two major operations conducted on December 12 and 13, 2024. During an aggressive patrol along the Takum-Katsina Ala road, troops thwarted an armed robbery attempt near Kasuwa Shenu in Takum Town. The operation led to the arrest of a suspect, Emmanuel Thomas Oryiman, who was found with a locally fabricated pistol and two rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The following day, December 13, troops responded swiftly to a distress call reporting bandit activity in Manzala Village, Yoro Local Government Area. Acting decisively, they pursued the assailants and successfully rescued three kidnap victims. The victims, whose identities were not disclosed, have since been reunited with their families, marking a moment of relief for the affected communities.
To further strengthen security in the area, the Army conducted additional patrols across mountainous terrains and flashpoints in Ardo-Kola and Yoro Local Government Areas. These operations are aimed at neutralizing potential threats and ensuring lasting peace in Taraba State.
