Nigerian teenager Cornelius Akaunu, currently associated with Liverpool, has indicated his desire to transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers before the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Arsenal insider Jeorge Bird, Akaunu, who had previously undergone a trial with Arsenal, participated in a match for Wolves’ U-16 team on Saturday, March 29.
Recently, he was named as a substitute for Wolverhampton Wanderers during their 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the U-18 Premier League, which took place two days ago.
Impressing Wolves youth team coaches in his trial period could see him link up with Saheed Olagunju, Wes Okoduwa, David Osifo, Tom Edozie and Testimony Igbinoghene in the academy set-up.
A forward by trade, Akaunu featured as a trialist for the Gunners U-17s in a friendly at Hale End last month, with Arsenal winning the game 3-1.

Before training with Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers, he was assessed by Tottenham Hotspur, scoring in a 4-0 win over Fulham’s youth team.
In the summer of 2017, Akaunu was among 21 U-9 players who joined Liverpool’s academy.
Their contracts were signed with club icon Steven Gerrard in attendance, shortly after he was announced as the U-18s manager for the next season.
As he approaches the end of his schoolboy years, Akaunu will be eligible for a scholarship contract with an English club in the summer of 2025.
