Nigeria made headlines on the global innovation stage as the 2025 edition of GITEX Africa wrapped up in Marrakech, Morocco, spotlighting the continent’s most groundbreaking tech startups. Among the biggest winners was Nigerian agritech startup, Crop2Cash, which emerged victorious with the coveted Young CEO Award—an honor that came with a $5,000 cash prize and solidified the company’s reputation as a rising force in agricultural technology.

Crop2Cash’s win at the SUPERNOVA Challenge, GITEX Africa’s prestigious startup pitch competition, reflects the startup’s innovative edge and commitment to revolutionizing farming practices through digital solutions. The award not only affirms the potential of Nigerian entrepreneurship but also underscores the country’s growing influence in the African tech ecosystem.

Also making waves was another Nigerian startup, Vinsight, which earned a place among the top 10 finalists in the SUPERNOVA Special Awards. Vinsight’s recognition stands as a testament to the ingenuity and competitive spirit driving Nigeria’s tech scene, particularly in developing scalable solutions with real-world impact.

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) lauded the accomplishments of the 12 Nigerian startups sponsored to participate in the event. He noted that their strong performance attracted the attention of international investors and unlocked strategic partnerships that are expected to propel the startups to new heights. According to him, their exposure to a global tech audience has sparked meaningful collaborations, strengthened innovation pipelines, and further positioned Nigeria as a hub of digital excellence in Africa.

With GITEX Africa 2025 now concluded, Nigeria’s startup ecosystem has once again proven its resilience, creativity, and capacity to compete on a global stage. As Crop2Cash basks in its well-earned victory, the future of tech-driven agriculture—and Nigeria’s place in it—looks more promising than ever.
