Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, is said to be currently in a meeting with China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, and other members of his delegation.
The meeting is holding at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, according to Tuggar in a post on his X account on Thursday
He said the meeting highlights the growing diplomatic relations between Nigeria and China. Adding that the meeting will focus on deepening collaboration in areas of mutual interest and enhancing economic partnerships.
He wrote; “In an effort to further strengthen #NigeriaChinaRelations, I look forward to engaging with my counterpart, Mr. Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister of China, during his two-day visit to Nigeria as part of his diplomatic tour across Africa.
“Our discussions will focus on deepening collaboration in areas of mutual interest, enhancing economic partnerships, and exploring new opportunities for cooperation.
“This dialogue will be a step forward in solidifying the longstanding relationship between our two countries.”

Wang Yi, had arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, for an official visit, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations as well as fostering cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, and infrastructure development.
The Chinese Foreign Minister, who arrived in Abuja at 7:15 pm local time was received by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed and other top government officials, alongside the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Yu Dunhai.
During his stay, Mr. Yi is scheduled to hold high-level talks with government officials, discussing pressing global issues, regional security, and economic development.
The visit underscores China’s commitment to enhancing its partnership with Nigeria, driving growth, and promoting peace and stability in the region.
